Adapting CDC’s NHSN Training to Virtual Formats
Overview
U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) needed to adapt their traditional in-person events to virtual formats in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Rainmakers was tasked with providing conference and training support for CDC’s National Healthcare Safety Network (NHSN) Patient Safety Component (PSC) training course and Annual Post-Acute Care (PAC) Training, which had historically been in-person events.
Challenge
The transition from in-person to virtual events posed several challenges, including managing meeting logistics, ensuring high levels of engagement, and providing technical support. Additionally, CDC needed to maintain the quality of training and education provided to healthcare professionals, who were unfamiliar with surveillance case definitions and required training in applying these definitions.
Solution
Rainmakers provided comprehensive conference planning and producing support for virtual events. This included:
Project management
Virtual event platform management
Registration and attendance tracking
AV and technical support
Virtual event production
Speaker communication and training
Event website development
Rainmakers leveraged Zoom and vFairs to recreate in-person experiences, using engaging brain teasers, live Q&A sessions, and dynamic virtual environments to enhance interactivity and engagement. Our certified virtual producers ensured high-quality event execution, meeting—and exceeding—client expectations.
Impact
The transition to virtual events allowed for increased attendance and engagement from healthcare professionals across the country. Rainmakers’ meticulous attention to detail and efficient execution of the events helped CDC achieve their goals of providing continuing education credits and educating healthcare professionals on proper reporting procedures to the CDC.
The successful collaboration between Rainmakers and CDC shows the effectiveness of adapting traditional events to virtual formats. By providing seamless logistics and interactive virtual platforms, Rainmakers helped CDC reach a larger audience and deliver valuable training and educational content to healthcare professionals.
